EL HIERRO
El Hierro is the smallest and least known of the Canary Islands, situated to the south west of the other islands, consisting of an area of 278 square kms, with a population of 11.000. The Island Is the quietest of all the islands and most original. Malpaso is the highest mountain, 1.500 metres. In the centre of the ireland are plateauswith fields for agriculture, pine forests, beech and tree heather forests. To the south of the island are impressive lava fields. To the northwest lies the valley of El Golfo, where pineapples, bananas and many other tropical fruits are cultivated. |
